Rules & Guidelines
for submissions to Corner Poetry

    This area covers the rules governing submissions to Corner Poetry.

Submission Rules & Guidelines:  

  1. Poets submitting poetry to Corner Poetry must provide us with your full legal name. We do not discourage poets from submitting poems using a pseudonym name. Corner Poetry will publish poems submitted by poets using their pseudonym name, however for legal purposes the poets full legal name is required and the poets full legal name will appear in the title bar (only) of the poets personal page and poem pages along with their pseudonym name all other reference to the poet will be under the pseudonym name provided

  2. All work that is being submitted must be the original work of the poet submitting. No submissions will be accepted or considered other than that of the original work of the author, unless the author signs a release allowing their work to be submitted and published in Corner Poetry. The submitter must acknowledge that all poem submitted are of their own work, if the work(s) being submitted are not of your own work, and permission has been granted to publish poems on behalf of the original copyright holder a release form must be signed, notarize and mailed to the following address:

    Failure to adhere, will results in the poems being removed from the submissions queue. If the work(s) that are being submitted and they are not your own work(s) and permission has not been granted the submissions will be removed from the queue and not published.

  3. Submissions of poems to Corner Poetry are accepted on the basis that the author grants Corner Poetry a non-exclusive license, for use of the material within Corner Poetry without any monetary compensation. All rights to the submitted material remain that of the submitting poet.

  4. All poetry published within Corner Poetry will be protected under copyright laws and may not be reproduced, reprinted or retransmitted or altered in any form without the written consent from the author.

  5. Corner Poetry requires new poets to Corner Poetry to submit a minimum of five (5) poems for review and posting considerations.

  6. Each poem submitted must contain a copyright year (The year the poem was written).

  7. Poets submitting poems to Corner Poetry that are accepted and their individual poems are posted agree to submitting at least two (2) new poems every four (4) months to remain an active member of Corner Poetry. Poet who fail to submit poems on a timely basis may be notified by e-mail to submit poems. Failure respond to the notification within 30 days or to to adhere to this rule can result in the deletion of your personal page and poems from Corner Poetry without further warning.

  8. We hope that poets appearing within Corner Poetry will do what they can to promote our site.

  9. Corner Poetry will not accept any poem(s) that are typed in all caps. Any poem that is submitted in all caps will automatically be deleted from our submission queue.

  10. Corner Poetry has the right to refuse any work submitted without giving reason as to why such said work has been refused.

  11. Corner Poetry will accept poems that are related to romance, interpersonal relationships and nature, etc. A wide variety of topics are desirable for submission, however references to pornographic in nature, violence, racially motivated, hate and or degrading attack upon an individual will not be acknowledged or considered for publication.

  12. Corner Poetry also would like to know if the submitted works have been previously published, and what form it has or has been published, i.e., printed form (magazines, newsletters, etc.), or electronic means (Web Pages). Acknowledgments to this will be displayed.

  13. If the submitted poem has been previously published, we would like to know the date(s) of the publication(s).

  14. If the submitted work has been published more than once, we request all publishers and publication dates be listed in chronological order from the most recent publication working backwards.

  15. If the publisher of the work being submitted by the author holds a joint copyright of the material being submitted.

  16. Failure to adhere to any of the above rules will result in your submissions being deleted from the queue and we may or may not notify you by e-mail as the result and to advise to read the Rules & Guidelines of Corner Poetry. I you are notified failure to follow the rules you will need to resubmit previous poems submitted in addition to the number required to meet the minimum.

The review process:  

All poems submitted are reviewed by a board of 4 individuals and The Host of Corner Poetry.

  1. The Host of Corner Poetry will only be called upon to render a decision in the event that the board is tied upon a decision.

  2. It is understood that the four (4) individual members of the board will remain anonymous in any and all circumstances.

  3. All vote's totals or decisions (for or nay) are to be considered secret and will not, under any circumstances, be revealed to anyone apart from the individual board members and The Host of Corner Poetry.

  4. All decisions by the board are to be considered final.

  5. You will be contacted via e-mail if your poems are selected for posting within Corner Poetry.
