Remember When

Remember when children
we would sing
or swing around
and all fall down
Watching the little ones at play
Remember when we felt like this
Energy and joy wonder in everything
Colors and movement a delight
The wind a friend joining our play
The sun our joy and wonder
The birds were our song
The flowers our crowns or pirates jewels
Remember when we were young
Looking through albums worn and creased
We're like these
Well worn with time and use
with times burdens even its joys
Yet still we're stiff strong stuff
Have to be here a while
Let the children know
Of what we remember for remember when
Yesterday and today so much the same
Yet so much changed
Want them to see what time was
for you and me
Can't let them forget
To remember when
Don't let them forget
To see with a child's eyes
Don't let them forget the wonder
that now they find
Growing up is so hard
needs a little magic
a little wonder
and some dreams
So when parents they surely will be
They to can laugh and sing
if only for a little
Break up the cares and fears
Tension of all your years
Grasp childhood in memories grip
For surely as you see the beauty
of a child's smile
For surely as you can remember why
You'll hold love and laughter
in your heart
For even when tears are the role
Remember when's wonder is the cure
Look back a mental photo gallery
Memories gathered to remember when
Healing for a lose
And reminder of wonder in a child's smile
Promise of words to come
From future adults who once heard it sung
Remember when, oh remember when we were young
