And Then There Was Antwan
And then there was Antwan, as
big as a minute.
With a heart of gold and a smile that couldn't,
Expose all the pain and suffering within.
This frail, tiny body, a package that'd been,
Abused since birth, his mind twisted and mixed...
All up in confusion with a a memory fixed.
Upon love he was missing with
characters inside,
A smile his reward...but behind it he'd hide.
His emotions a puzzle and confusion the norm,
For God's child of misery that sheltered this storm.
Locked inside for life with no hope in sight...
His brain to be twisted, his future a plight.
Caught up in paperwork that
was stacked up to there,
This soul of an angel with his grin that masked fear.
Of his personalities, so much here to use,
Each with a purpose that kept him confused.
An "X" placed upon him, at birth, was his due...
He was born with an innocence, faithful...so true.
He left us at seven, his void
is felt here.
Wrapped up with his image, his love ever dear.
For my heart and others he touched with his smile,
His "friends" were his "family," he kept them in style.
With this secret inside...their protection his gift...
For Antwan, their master, his conscious to shift.
From perplexity of lifestyles,
in defense of his love,
Till the time he departed with the angels above.
They took Antwan, singing, all wrapped in a smile.
This little one, so special...his memory filed,
Away deep inside and forever kept warm...
My thoughts provoke tears as his memory forms.
And the plight of all others
that walk in his shoes.
He left here a hope that for others abused,
There's a future of promise...a road with no forks,
On the highway of red ink and all paperwork.
From city to state and from there to the Senate...
In memory of Antwan, as big as a minute.
