A Nation is Dying

where is the future?
what is the cost?
wages of war.
families lost.
where is the answer?
percentage of what?
screw all the chances!
what is the lot?
figure the odds...
of war and of peace.
families broken...
answers to these,
on tongues that are crying.
egos inflated...
Their nation is dying.
babies are frightened.
parents are dead.
eyes are wide open.
visions of dread...
future in limbo.
ghosts being born.
news keeping tempo...
filming this storm.
it could be us.
our nation in harm...
but we sleep soundly,
all snug and warm.
these are our babies.
children of war...
orphans anew,
no moon, no stars.
skies are all black.
smells of the dead...
war coming back,
keeping it fed.
money in pockets...
diplomacy, tact...
eyes dead in sockets...
giving it back.
lets get it over.
please give us peace.
people for people...
for those in Kosovo.
dry all this tears.
stop all the crying.
hold hands in peace.
a nation is dying.
