Yesterways

My mind still lives in yesterdays,
Clinging to my yesterways.

Look within, ignite the fire--
Happy Birthday to desire.

Give him who seeks a tender smile,
The Winter warms a little while.

It doesn't hurt to give a hug,
And then retreat and pull the plug.
See the poet searching after:
Inside crying, outside laughter.

If I could see beyond the sea,
I would discover more of me.

Some seek ribbons, others change;
While others seek beyond their range.

Even in the Winter
You are a fresh summer breeze,
a sandy beach
a chocolate bar
a carrousel--making people happy,
even though the music
creates a melancholy sound.

Creating myths of yesterdays,
Living in my yesterways.
