Superfluous Communication

Writing to you is like walking on egg shells.
I must weigh the meaning of each word I write.
Praying my comma should not be a period,
For that alone would give you reasons to fight.

If I say I miss you and need you today
You will ask me why I am feeling so good.
You get angry when I ask what you're doing.
Whatever I say will be misunderstood.

So I write about weather, meals that I eat,
And must never write about feeling distress,
For you sit and wait with great expectation
To pounce on real thoughts that I sometimes express.

So the weather if fine and I'm feeling great--
Not a care in the world--just happy today.
Hope you have fun with the work you are doing--
And of course, hope that you are feeling OK.
