October Winds
In July the summer breeze
Whispered softly passing trees
Said, "don't listen" for you tease
tempting me.
Come the August summer night
The moon reflected back your light--
The night wind spoke that soon you might
come to me.
Another song I heard before--
As my tears fell on the floor--
Could I dare to ask for more?
Have I not called out to you before?
this need in me?
Waiting every lonely year
Hope left with my final tear
You were not felt, you were not near
The wind was silent--I could not hear
you speak to me.
In my dreams the grass winds sound
Of wooden horses going round
With a music known to me--
Sad and blue
calliope
In that dream I crossed a field
October winds both locked and sealed
A carousel, where dreams are made
And melodies again are played
taunting me
Dressed in wine, and hair of black--
And I must love, no holding back
I hold your hand and take you home
Leave this empty field alone--
loving me
And so I wait, October nears--
Washing away all my fears--
Until your shadow I can feel--
And taste your love for it is real--
Together each of us will heal--
loving you
loving me.
