Back When

so tell me grandma....

if you could start over
and do it all somehow again,
anything you would change
from now to way back then?

she smiled as she thought
for this question was intent
her grandchild looked so serious
from his heart it was sent

surely life had taught her
things she never did know
how to handle hard times
what to do - where not to go

to show more smiles and
also when to hide some tears
keeping her eyes on tomorrow
less looking back over the years

well now....she began....
I think I'd have to say
that I would change very little....
live one day at a time

as I do.....today
