Weekend Work Aside

Too much white paper
too tight a deadline to keep
too silent keys
and night turning day.

The TV flickers -
volume low, kids asleep -
I'm glued to the set.

Another icon's crashed.

The Selectric purrs in the next room
waiting to be fed.
