Willow Trees

Rising from sleep
my heart sings
a joyful song
like those of
morning birds.

I think of how
we might walk together
in the day's early light,
traveling through
green meadows
filled with the scent
of wild flowers.

Pausing to rest
near flowing water
banked by damp moss
and willow trees,
you take my hand...
and I am captured
by the look in your eyes.
