What Happened

On a cold dark night
down a long dark street
she slowly walks
on hurting feet
She ran from her sorrows
she ran from her fears
only to come and think back the years
She loved her mother no doubt
but her mother told her to get out
So she ran so fast
she ran so hard
Now she's come long and far
She ducks behind a phone booth
scared not knowing what to do.

The night falls even darker
so she starts to walk again
She walks about a mile
then she meets up with some friends
They call out to her
and she welcomes them
She walks and she talks
and soon she starts to forget
They clear her mind of her sorrows
They take away her fears

They give her food
and a place to stay
Then later at night
they all go away
there's nothing to do
and there's nothing to say
so she gets up and walks away

A stranger comes up
and knocks her to the ground
her certain death
she thinks she has found
He rips at her clothes
then pushes himself in her
She kicks and screams
and it's days it seems
before he leaves her there

In a cold alley way
on a dark lonely night
she fought with all her might
The dark is now her greatest fear
and being alone
brings her to tears

But she lived on
and she's gotten far
She'll never forget
But she's almost over it.
