Treasure Chest

We are all treasure hunters
in this life,
looking for the perfect gem.
A kind smile and a gentle touch
are all the rewards that we quest.
The kind engulfing spirit
that matches our own,
the search for never ending.
We coast through life,
looking for the X
that marks the spot.
The desperation in the holes
we've dug ourselves.
Just when you think
that you buried the secret within,
on comes inspiration.
The chest you carry has no key.
Alive with breath
and breathing of the heart.
For the treasure,
you see,
was inside yourself.
Discovery of a journey
was the endangered jewel.
Life was what we had
been looking for.
Experience was the guide.
