Three Roses

Three roses
Each one, a treasure that I cherish.
The first was much more beautiful than I first had imagined.
It was full of color and had a fine, sweet scent.
The second, to my surprise, was even more beautiful than the first.
So many people say the second is the most thorny,
But I could hardly notice the thorns at all,
For the color and the beauty of the rose.
And now, this third rose.
This third is the richest and most colorful, yet.
I suppose I will go on picking these roses,
Just as I vowed that I would.
And I will put them away in my heart,
So that I can bring them out to remember whenever I want.
I look forward to the many roses I have yet to pick.
For each rose is a treasured moment with
The one I love.
