Reflections

I drifted off into the night
      through fog and clouds til out of sight,
Then, full speed, I raced at last.
      Saw there a mirror reflecting my past;
I gasped and turned to quickly flee
      but tiny voices beckoned me.
Thou fear possessed me, I looked in
      and what a shock to find within
swirls of color, too brilliant to view;

my sins, my triumphs were held in each hue.
And, oh how beautifully they fell...
      each color a place with a story to tell.
Kindness and love covered shame and disgrace
      til all that remained was a very slight trace...
Just enough hint so I'd dare not repeat.
      But each color was needed to make me complete.
