Choice

With doubt,
with pain unmeasurable
like meteor streaking to its death,
I will forget you.
I will forget the moment my heart
answered the voice within your eyes,
never to touch your fingers,
never to feel their strength against mine,
creating preludes through nocturnes,
crescendo,
and diminuendo the music of our bodies...
You passed,
passion passed,
dangerous,
a forbidden presence took you
like a black panther in the night:
I saw her,
let pass,
and chose daylight's brightness
to that of your eyes.
