Behind Glass

Between the slats of gray and overcast pause
The blinds are making of them
In the out world
Beyond the window she is skimming
The crust of the bay
Fairly slipping along like a dream
On in-line skates
Breasts filling like her sails
In her wind
And I catch my own breath
In my lighted study
I catch my own breath but there is nobody
Who will come in here or let it out
Where all eyes are behind glass
And I'm free,
I'm seeking protection
