A Secret, So Secret

Gasping, now just out of reach
This passion no scholar can teach
A nearly soundless atmosphere but I
still hear your beating heart
With a kiss to lullaby you in this deepest dark
While you dream, I slowly die within
To love on the outside and keep these cancerous secrets in
A series of long sighs to put me to sleep
A hope to awake to another's grief
Eating me alive, these sins I hide
You without a clue, believing I only loved you
This turmoil shall remain only my misery
It's better this away, although I doubt you'd agree
Though our bodies lie so near
This canyon of secrets separate us my dear
