A Dying Heart

To you, I gaveth,
From me, you tooketh.
I gave you hope and devotion,
You gave me false dreams and lots of commotion.
I showed you all of "me" inside and out,
You showed me part of "you" and gave me doubt.
I promised you love and happiness forever,
You took it all and gave to me never.
I opened my heart and soul for you to see,
You kept yours closed and gave only glimpses to me.
We talked of past experiences and of a future goal,
This shall never happen when only one plays the role.
I look for only one life to share,
You secretly have two without even a care.
I cannot help but feel that I have met my final demise,
So listen carefully and hear my crying heart as it gently dies.
